SHAHRUKH KHAN in MAKING of Rs 1 BILLION MOVIE for KIDS

King Khan is now on move to make a children movie loaded with special effects for whopping $ 25 million (Rs1 billion) as the costliest movie ever made in Bollywood. The rs 100 crore movie is to be produced in VFX medium using special computer- generated special effects. Shah Rukh disclosed the plan for the movie in an interview to Patrick Frater of Hollywood’s top trade magazine variety at Berlin film festival recently.

He is in communication with Eros Multimedia and Charles Darby (Related to Matrix and Minority Report) visual effect expert who has stake in Eros to start special effects Eyeqube studios in Mumbai.

Shah Rukh told he was producing movie under his home banner Red Chillies Production to be directed by Anubhav Sinha. He said, “We are dedicating the next eight or nine months to taking the best technicians from around the world and asking them to help us make the best VFX film India has ever made. It will be madcap, over the top. I want it to be as beautiful as Spider-Man in terms of effects,” Khan told Variety.

In the response to the question whether he was not courted by Hollywood he said, “I’m waiting for someone like Steven Spielberg or James Cameroon (of Titanic fame) or some other great person like Ang Lee to make a film, a film about a brown, thin, scrawny Indian guy who doesn’t speak English too well. If they ever have a character like that and Google it, I’m sure they’ll find me.”

During the interview he also admitted his home production movie Om Shanti Om was full of clichés of Indian cinema.

NEHA DHUPIA - SEXY WOMEN

Neha Dhupia, who is known for her sexy image and glamorous roles, is now hoping that her role in Mithya will be appreciated by the critics. “The film has been appreciated at the festivals. I have got great reviews at the Osian Film Festival and due credit for my role. I was flattered when people said ‘you have finally become an actress.’ Now I feel like telling the audiences stop looking at me and start listening to me,” says Neha.

It is believed that in Mithya, her role is similar to Mona Darling. When asked about the similarities between both characters she replies, “No it’s not so much like Mona Darling. Naseer is a gangster in the film and I am his girl.” She continues, “I am playing the character called Sonam. She is an aspiring actress and a gangster’s girl. She is always anticipating that he is going to make her a star, and will fund her films. In the entire journey she realises the truth. And there is a romantic angle with Ranvir Shorey.”

Neha informs she loves working with Rajat Kapoor as she will be seen in his next Raat Gayee Baat Gayee too. “Rajat the director, the actor and a human being, I can’t decide which amongst them is nicest. He is so good. He has delivered way more than what was there in the script. I think half the battle was won because Rajat was the director,” adds Neha. She doesn’t deny the fact that she did some wrong films in the past but she has no qualms about it. “I had a couple of disasters and I have learned from that.

But it’s okay as we all are human beings and we make mistakes. Sometimes you overlook them, sometimes you don’t. I did some films because of good relations and sometimes as favours. But now I have realised that I rather say no than turn around and be hiding my face. I have made mistakes and I have no regrets, but the movies I’m doing now are really good ones. I have Vipul Shah’s Singh Is Kinng and Maharathi with Paresh Rawal, Naseer and Om Puri, being directed by Shivam Nair,” she says.

KUNAL KHEMU - Superstar is an average film

After Om Shanti Om and Khoya Khoya Chand, we have another film based on the Hindi film industry. But Superstar, starring Kunal Khemu, has a double role element as well. It is directed by James director Rohit Jugraj.

Superstar starts with a middle-class boy (Kunal), who dreams of making it big in Bollywood. With his friends, including Mausam (Tulip Joshi ), backing him, Kunal's character dares to fight for his dreams. Unfortunately, life plays a cruel prank on him.

Enter Karan, (Kunal's double role), a rich, playboy son of a leading film producer, Mr Saxena (Darshan Jariwala). He is bent on making his son the next superstar. But Karan is not interested in the movies. He would rather spend his time partying or chasing actress Barkha (Aushima Sawhney). Fearing that his son's antics might jeopardise the film, Mr Saxena brings in Kunal as his body double. Now Kunal's dream of becoming a superstar is just a moment away, but at the cost of losing his identity.

Jugraj's direction has improved since James; he has extracted great performances from the actors.

There are great comedic moments in the film, most times poking fun at Bollywood stars and scandals. Even Sanjay Dutt, who has a guest appearance, comes up some cheeky one-liners.

But the script has some loopholes, the most prominent one being the investigating journalist (Zafar Karachiwala), who is only interested in getting the next scoop. But when he finally gets it, he suddenly turns into a softy and backs off. Karan's death scene is treated very poorly.

The film moves at a very slow pace, and should have been better edited. Music is quite drab too, except for the songs, Do I Love You and Ajnabi.

What holds the film together is Kunal Khemu's performance. He's endearing as Karan the casanova and as Kunal, the struggling actor. He definitely deserves better roles in bigger films.

Darshan Jariwala, as the money-hungry producer, is awesome. Sharat Saxena does brilliantly in the scene when Kunal visits his parents.

Tulip Joshi has lesser screen time than Aushima, but both do well.

Superstar is an average film. Watch it only if you have nothing else to do

JIMMY SHERGILL - HANDSOME MAN

Jimmy Shergill was born as Jasijet in as Sikh family on December 3rd 1970 in Gorakhpur, India. As a kid, Jimmy had an amazing childhood as his family lived on a farmhouse. In 1985, after the Indira Gandhi assassination, his family was forced to move to Punjab as riots against the Sikh community. Jimmy led a mediocre life in Punjab; his brother encouraged him to venture into acting, so Jimmy came to Mumbai and joined Roshan Taneja’s acting and dancing classes. In 1996, Jimmy was given his first break by Gulzar in ‘Maachis’, which got him some recognition. Jimmy has high regards for Gulzar Sahaab, who has mentored his career. His next was Yashraj banner ‘Mohaabtien’ in which he impressed many with his performance.

Jimmy continued his association with the banner by signing ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’, which did manage to get some good reviews for Jimmy. ‘Dil Hai Tumhara’ was his third hit, but still the actor did not get the star status. The critics commented the actor lacked the star aura and would not be able to carry a solo hero film on his own shoulders.

Jimmy continued with delivering good movies, and he left the critics stunned when he pulled off ‘Haasil’, a solo hero movie, but the actor still didn’t get the deserved recognition. Jimmy got married the same year to Priyanka, who is not part of the film industry.

Jimmy started accepting character roles in movies and he signed ‘Munnabhai MBBS’. Jimmy had high hopes with ‘Yahaan’ and the actor did deliver a fabulous performance, but it went unnoticed. Fate was not very kind to Jimmy as despite delivering great performances, he has not got his dues. The actor continues to pursue his zest for acting as he believes that he came to Bollywood with nothing and has has earned respect and fame and is confident that the future has a lot more for his talents.

AISHWARYA RAI and ABHISHEK BACHAN in RAMAYANA

There is news that “Ramayana” will be portrayed on the Hollywood screen.

The brain behind this fascination is Ashok Banker whose love for mythology led him to take on such determination of portraying “Ramayana” on the Hollywood screen.

Talks about the production of this movie have been going on since 2006 , and a major Hollywood production studio is backing it.

When asked about the cast and crew for his movie Banker says, “Some major names — both from Hollywood and Bollywood — are expected to be part of it. I’ve no idea if Nicole would be in it, though personally, I think she’ll make a great Surpanakha. Even Daniel Craig’s agent has called up to say that he’d be interested. And, if I had my way, I’d like him to do Ravana, since he has a very brutish and a very powerful presence. Actually, I’d want the baddies to be played by Westerners and Indians to play the ‘human’ ones” .

Indian spectators on the other hand find Ash-Abhi to be the ideal couple for the role of Sita and Ram. Ravana, they say will be best portrayed by King Khan –Sharukh.

It seems to be the most awaited picture of the year.

AJAY DEVGAN and KAJOL in U, ME aur HUM

These days it is all about innovative promotion strategies for your film. We saw enough of it in ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Saawariya’. Now, actor-debutant director Ajay Devgan took it upon himself to shoot for the ad commercial of Sangini jewellery, that’ll feature Ajay and Kajol. Shot in Filmistan only recently, the ad will hit the small screens in mid-March, and will prove to be an extended marketing strategy for the promotion of Ajay’s directorial debut ‘U, Me Aur Hum’.

In fact, the storyline of the ad commercial has been formulated keeping in mind the storyline of this romantic movie. It goes as Ajay and Kajol are on a cruise when it begins to rain stars. Our best wishes for the two talented stars of Bollywood!
